How Can We Help

Practical Support Throughout the Life of Your SSAS

A SSAS can provide business owners with considerable flexibility, but that flexibility also brings ongoing administrative responsibilities.

Pool House SSAS works with business owners, company directors and family-run businesses to manage those responsibilities. We look after the day-to-day administration, maintain scheme records, deal with reporting requirements and coordinate with solicitors, accountants, advisers and other professionals when transactions take place.

Whether you are establishing your first SSAS or already have a scheme requiring experienced administration, our team provides a knowledgeable and accessible point of contact.

Getting Your New Scheme Established Correctly

Setting up a Small Self-Administered Scheme involves more than simply opening a new pension. The scheme needs to be properly established, registered and documented before contributions, transfers and investments can begin.

We guide clients through the establishment process, helping to gather the information required and coordinating the various stages involved in creating the new scheme.

Once established, we remain involved as your ongoing administrator, so there is continuity from the initial setup through to the day-to-day management of the SSAS.

Our support can include:

Ongoing Scheme Administration

Taking care of the detail behind your SSAS.

A SSAS requires ongoing administration throughout its lifetime. Transactions need to be documented, records maintained and information reported when required.

Pool House SSAS provides the administrative infrastructure behind your scheme, giving members a consistent point of contact and helping ensure that important requirements are not overlooked.

This can include maintaining member and scheme records, preparing documentation, monitoring transactions, dealing with HMRC reporting and liaising with the other professionals involved with your pension scheme.

Our aim is to make the ongoing management of your SSAS as straightforward as possible.

Commercial Property Purchase

Using your SSAS to invest in commercial property.

Commercial property is one of the reasons many business owners become interested in a SSAS.

A scheme can potentially acquire qualifying commercial property, including premises that are subsequently occupied by the sponsoring business. This can enable business owners to bring an important commercial asset within their pension arrangements while the company continues to operate from the premises.

There can, however, be several parties involved in a pension scheme property transaction.

Pool House SSAS helps coordinate the administrative process, working alongside solicitors, advisers, lenders and other professionals to help move the transaction forward.

Once the property is held within the scheme, our involvement continues.

We can assist with:

This means our role does not end when the purchase completes.

Secured Employer Loans

Putting pension capital to work within your business.

One of the distinctive features available to a SSAS is the ability, subject to the relevant requirements, to make a secured loan to its sponsoring employer.

This can provide an alternative source of business funding while allowing interest payments to be made back into the pension scheme rather than to an external lender.

A qualifying employer loan can be made for up to 50% of the net value of the scheme’s assets, but HMRC rules apply to matters including security, interest, repayment terms and the duration of the loan.

Pool House SSAS assists with the administration surrounding the transaction and liaises with the appropriate professional advisers to ensure the required documentation is put in place.

Beyond the Setup

Ongoing Support for Your SSAS

Investment Administration

A SSAS can hold a range of permitted investments, giving members greater flexibility over how pension assets are structured.

We manage the associated administration and scheme records, working alongside your financial adviser or other investment professionals where appropriate.

Pension Income & Benefit Payments

As members approach retirement, a SSAS may begin making pension income or other permitted benefit payments.

Pool House SSAS administers these payments and maintains the associated records, providing continuity from investment through to retirement.

Pension Scheme VAT Returns

Where a SSAS owns commercial property or carries out certain taxable activities, VAT registration and reporting may be required.

Pool House SSAS can assist with pension scheme VAT returns and maintain the necessary records, with specialist tax advice used where appropriate.
